![]() Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust Meeting with the Metropolitan Police and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club re Y Word Notes Monday 21st October 2013 7.00pm – 8.30pm ![]() Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust Board Meeting Thursday 17th October 2013 6.30pm – 8.30pm The George, Liverpool Street EC2 ![]() Summary: The ‘Yid’ debate A fortnight further dominated by the Y Word issue, brought into the spotlight again following comments made by Chief Superintendent Mick Johnson, match day commander for the Spurs v West Ham game, on 3rd October. ![]() THST has noted, with great sadness, the statement issued by the Metropolitan Police over the last 24 hours in relation to the new interpretation being applied to Section 5 of the 1986 Public Order Act, classifying the word ‘Yid’ as either ‘insulting’ or ‘racist’. Firstly, it is important to stress that the vast majority of supporters attend football matches and go home having neither been arrested nor having had any real contact with the police (or stewards) so hopefully you’ll never need the advice in this article but nonetheless it is important that supporters are aware of their rights on arrest and know what to do in the event they wish to make complaint about how they’ve been treated.
