Help Leyton Orient fans save their club

10/4/2017

At this Saturday's home game against Bournemouth, supporters of Leyton Orient FC will be collecting for their Regeneration Fund.

Fans will be aware of the dire situation The Os are in, and the Regeneration Fund is being built up to enable fans to relaunch the club if it goes into liquidation, administration or there is a negotiated sale involving the Supporters' Trust. It should be stressed that none of the money raised will be used to pay the current owners' debts. Full details about the fund are here.

We know there are strong links between supporters of Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient, so when the Leyton Orient Fans' Trust got in touch with us and with THFC, we were only too pleased to help them, and we are very grateful to THFC for giving LOFT collectors permission to do a bucket collection at the Bournemouth game.

We'll be asking our colleagues at Bournemouth's Cherries Trust to support the initiative too. Please do give what you can to the LOFT collectors.

Report from July's Premier League fan forum

7/9/2016

Picture
THST was among the fan groups who met senior representatives of the Premier League in late July. The meeting was the first to be held following the call by the Government's Expert Working Group on Fan Engagement and Supporter Ownership for improved dialogue between the PL and supporters' organisations.

We reported back on the meeting in our July newsletter, and had hoped to give a fuller report back soon after. It's taken the PL the best part of seven weeks to produce a somewhat cursory account of the day's discussions, and we have made our view clear that meetings should be reported back on much sooner in future if they are to retain validity in the eyes of supporters. We are grateful to the Football Supporters' Federation for publishing a more informative account of the meeting.

Topics discussed were away ticket prices, kick-off times, Safe Standing, the Independent Football Ombudsman, the Living Wage and B teams in the EFL Trophy. There was also some discussion on the process of future meetings.

THST was encouraged by the progress made on Safe Standing, and this is something we've followed up at Club level.

This meeting was a first step in what could be a mutually beneficial process, and we'll be looking for improvements in future.

THFC Response to THST Survey re: MK Dons

Thank you for the results of the survey.
In selecting pre-season opposition, we do approach this from a football perspective, in the interests of  optimum preparation for the new season.
MK Dons represents an opportunity for members of our Development Squad to gain experience in a Football League environment, on a good playing surface and against strong League One opponents that foster a positive playing style - attributes that we feel will further help our own players' development.
