On Friday, THFC announced the home game against Burnley was to be moved 24 hours to "allow players maximum recovery time" in the busy Xmas schedule.
THST heard about this decision via the club's official Twitter feed. There was no consultation or attempt to gauge supporter opinion. The disregard for fans shown in this case could not be clearer, and is a step back in an otherwise constructive relationship.
Fans of Spurs and Burnley have made travel arrangements for the upcoming fixture in good faith. Many are out of pocket, some substantially. We have asked Spurs fans who have been inconvenienced by this decision to send details into firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be compiling a dossier to send to the club.
We also contacted our colleagues at the Clarets Trust. They told us they had been told a week ago that both clubs wanted to move the fixture.
We will be asking THFC;
• to compensate those fans who are out of pocket
• to issue an apology to fans over the unacceptable late change
• to commit to proper consultation around the timing of fixtures
• to explain how fans can view any future fixture dates with any degree of confidence.
