Ahead of our upcoming away game at Stamford Bridge, THFC has issued some important information about fan behaviour at the match. We urge supporters to take note of this, and we are setting out the facts here for clarity.

THST backs calls for establishment of Hillsborough Law

We’re proud to be the first Supporters’ Trust to back the call for a ‘Hillsborough Law’. The law would impose a duty on all public officials to be truthful at inquiries into public tragedies, and would give the families affected access to adequate resources to support their pursuit of justice.

Postponing the North London Derby

The postponement of the North London Derby just over 24 hours before kick-off once again raises questions about football’s attitude to fans, and the integrity of competition.

We’ve always said we appreciate the current challenging circumstances, but the fact remains that fans had already made arrangements to travel and some have incurred substantial costs. There are now significant issues around ticketing for the Club and fans to resolve.

Food and drink price increases at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium

We are very disappointed to see that the prices of food and drink at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are increasing for the second time this season and we have made our feelings about this clear to the Club.

Of course, we understand that globally costs have increased enormously. We know that the impact of Brexit on supply has been highly detrimental in many ways, including financially. We also understand that the pandemic has meant that labour patterns have changed and that the Club, along with everyone else, has felt the brunt of these price hikes.

The rumours began last Friday with reports of a 25-foot-high Spurs legend spotted on Tottenham High Road. Sightings continued over the weekend, with excitement building on social media. Today we can reveal the real story; the result of months of work which, with the help of the Club and a great team of street artists, opens a new chapter in Spurs history. The mural, commissioned and part-funded by the Trust, features Club legend Ledley King and his inspirational quote: “This is my Club, my one and only Club”. It is, we hope, the first of a number of initiatives that make the history of Tottenham Hotspur more visible in the area around the stadium and more widely around Haringey.

THST Board member Rob White, whose connection with the Club goes back to the days of another legend, his father John White, led our work on the project. Trust co-chair Martin Cloake spoke to him ahead of the unveiling.

Information for Spurs fans attending the Carabao Cup Semi-Final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening

It’s been three years since we last played a League Cup Semi-Final at Chelsea. There’s been a couple of major developments since then, so we thought it was worthwhile checking in with CFC staff and with the Metropolitan Police to clarify plans for the upcoming game. We’re sharing key points from our meeting on 31 December here and would urge travelling fans to read before heading to the match.

Cup football on Wednesday night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

It’s been a while since we played a home cup game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup Quarter Final against West Ham has all the hallmarks of a classic tie, under the lights. But these are complicated times.
We are living with a reinvigorated COVID virus thanks to the Omicron variant and have recently moved to the restrictions under the Government’s Plan B. This has implications for match goers. Add to that an increased away allocation of 6,000 West Ham fans and a lively rivalry between the two sets of fans, and we thought it was worth speaking with those in charge of making sure Wednesday night goes smoothly to work through some of our questions and concerns.

THST response to the proposals from the Football Fan-Led Governance Review

The recommendations made by the Football Fan-Led Governance Review are the biggest step forward in almost 30 years of campaigning by fan organisations on the governance of clubs and the wider game. We welcome and endorse the recommendations, and urge the government to allocate Parliamentary time to enable the early enactment of the legislation necessary to enact these much-needed changes.

The creation of an independent regulator for English football (IREF) is a positive and vital step. So too is the requirement for clubs to obtain a licence from that regulator, and for that licence to specify minimum standards of governance and supporter engagement. The game and its clubs have shown they are unwilling or unable to deliver the reforms needed, and we wholeheartedly endorse the establishment of the regulator and licensing system to ensure reform is delivered effectively.

Catering meeting with THFC

We continue to work closely with the catering team at THFC to ensure that Spurs supporters’ feedback is both sought and shared. Rachel Martin, THST Board member with a remit for catering, met with the catering lead at THFC, Ray Watson, on 2 November to discuss the findings of our recent catering survey. Every comment made is read by both Rachel and Ray, and addressed wherever possible.

We take no pleasure in seeing the fourteenth manager of ENIC’s reign depart the Club today.
Nuno Espirito Santo conducted himself with integrity, good grace and civility throughout his short time at Spurs and, although clearly not the right fit for Tottenham, we wish him and his coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias well for the future.

On 27 September, we invited the Executive Board of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to meet with the Board of Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust to discuss some of the strategic questions Trust members and other fans have been asking for some time. The request was not made on the back of a few bad results, but after two years of questionable decision-making and apparent drift.

Last week, the Board of Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust asked the Board of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club for a meeting to discuss the Club’s medium to long-term strategy. The Club has decided it does not want to address the questions many fans are asking. It has declined to speak to the Board of its official Supporters’ Trust.

It’s good to be back

It’s the start of a new season and, for the first time in 17 months, Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium will be open to full capacity. The overwhelming feeling is that it is good to be back and, as always, we start the season with optimism.

Foodbank Appeal

The start of a new season has focussed our minds on a problem that has not disappeared over the summer. Tottenham Foodbank and North Enfield Foodbank are still in need of our help to support those less fortunate than ourselves in our local community.

Fan discontent with Club governance exposed in largest-ever independent supporter survey

The scale of discontent with the way the Board of Tottenham Hotspur FC is running the Club has been laid bare in the largest-ever independent survey of fan opinion carried out by the Supporters’ Trust. Of the 8,358 fans who responded, 75% said they felt ENIC’s stewardship of the Club had declined over the last year. That’s significantly up from just 6% in our last survey in 2019. Only 9% thought it had improved, significantly down from 61% in 2019. On-field events have undoubtedly had an impact on supporter sentiment, but our findings show substantial discontent with decisions made off-field too.

THST ran its seventh annual Fan Survey from 9th to 18th June. After a pause in 2020 owing to the disruption to the 2019/20 season caused by the pandemic, we were keen to gauge fan sentiment on a wide range of issues affecting Spurs fans. The online survey was open to all Tottenham supporters, including members of the Trust.

You've got to admire their BALLS: THST's Rob White talks to the man behind the new art exhibition at Warmington House

If you’ve ever thought you don’t know much about art, but you know what you like, you might be interested in the OOF Gallery that has opened on the site of the old supporters’ club at Warmington House, next to our new stadium.

Trust Board member and photographer Rob White spoke to the gallery’s founder and curator, Justin Hammond, to find out a little bit more about the project at the first exhibition – pithily entitled BALLS – which promised “twisted, manipulated, deformed football sculptures” when it opened on 23 July.
