“For the game in hand however we do not feel it is appropriate for us to subsidise ticket prices, not least because it would remove any incentive for competition organisers to price sensibly in the future.
“Both yourselves and Spirit of Shankly have ensured that the issues of allocation and pricing have been aired and the hope must be that future competitions acknowledge fan sentiments.”
While we don’t agree that the clubs using income made from their runs in the competition to subsidise tickets would remove the incentive to reduce prices in future, we are happy THFC has acknowledged the significant costs to our fans, and that it is pressing the issues of pricing and allocation with UEFA. When Clubs and fans work together, we can secure change.
We also asked the Club to move the renewal deadline for Season Tickets back to after the month end, and payday, to ease the financial burden on fans, and they have agreed to do this.
We will continue to work with other supporter organisations and Football Supporters Europe in our aim to secure a price cap on away tickets across all European competitions and more tickets at more accessible prices for showpiece finals.
