Between 3-5 June 2016, hundreds of football fans from clubs across the country will cycle from Barnsley and London to Amsterdam to raise much-needed funds for the charity Prostate Cancer UK. THST board member Kevin Fitzgerald has signed up for the ride and is recruiting a team of Spurs riders to do the trip with him. So we’re appealing now for riders to sign up – and we’re asking Spurs fans everywhere to back the THST team as they raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Launching this year’s ride, our former manager Martin Jol said: “It’s a great cause, and Amsterdam is a great city to go to.” Martin has, of course, managed in both cities, and at the launch he spoke of his time at Spurs with affection.
Martin is still remembered fondly at Spurs for leading the club back into Europe, and he’s backing this latest European trip. “I had to prove myself, and don’t forget Spurs weren’t in Europe since 1982, 83, so it must have helped that we did well. But every time we went to Europe, they were talking about glory nights in Europe and we managed to do that. So I think I’m very grateful to them to be there and be a part of this. I think they liked what they did there and they liked what my team did.”
