It’s been another busy fortnight for THST, with updates on the following:
Supporters Direct Meeting, The ‘Y’ Word, Campaigns, Ticketing, Special General Meeting, Atmosphere at White Hart Lane.
Darren Alexander (Joint Chairman) and Katrina Law (Secretary) attended a Supporters Direct Premier League Group meeting in Birmingham on 19/11/13, along with representatives from Chelsea, Aston Villa, Fulham, Swansea, Cardiff, Arsenal Supporters’ Trusts and Spirit of Shankly. The headline topic was coalition campaigning and some interesting ideas were shared.
2. The ‘Y’ Word
THST met with Melanie Cooke of Bailey Nicholson Grayson Solicitors to assist with the defence of the fan arrested at the West Ham match for use of the ‘Y’ word.
Due to the current legal situation, we’re not able to divulge details at this stage but work is ongoing. The CPS is due to make a decision on this case on 12/13, postponed from 19/11/13.
THST also continues to assist the Metropolitan Police with their push to prosecute those who post anti-Semitism on social media networks. An arrest was announced on 28/11/13 as part of this initiative.
3. Campaigns
THST will be polling members / fans on the issue of Safe Standing over the next few weeks. More details will follow shortly.
A joint campaign around ticket pricing – an extension of the #FootballWithoutFansIsNothing movement – will take place at the Liverpool match on 15/12/13. We’ll provide full details in due course.
4. Ticketing
Following numerous prompts, THST received the aggregated StubHub data from the first six games of the season, on 27/11/13. We’re working through the figures and will communicate headlines to our members in the next couple of weeks.
THST awaits a response from the Premier League regarding the Sunday 12pm kick offs against Newcastle and Manchester United, which seemingly contradicts their Away Fans Matter drive, as well as causing considerable inconvenience to home supporters.
We’re also waiting for more information from the Premier League regarding the Stoke match date change.
5. Special General Meeting
THST is taking advice from lawyers at fellow Trusts in terms of organising the Special General Meeting for late January. We’re also liaising with our preferred legal advisor, in terms of establishing the mechanics of running an election according to Friends and Industrial Provident Society Rules. This is a long and complex process but essential it is done properly in the interest of our members.
6. Atmosphere at White Hart Lane
Around 4,700 votes have been cast for the design of the Surfing Flag. The poll closes on 06/12/13. THFC have offered to underwrite the cost of the flag.
Votes can be placed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9M3YC57
THST will be represented at a meeting with the THFC Marketing Manager and Match Day Ents Producer and other fans groups on 3/12/13 to discuss pre-match build-up etc.
