The ‘Yid’ debate
A fortnight further dominated by the Y Word issue, brought into the spotlight again following comments made by Chief Superintendent Mick Johnson, match day commander for the Spurs v West Ham game, on 3rd October.

With regards to the arrest made at half time during the West Ham match, THST can confirm that the individual in question is in touch with the Trust and his case is being handled by our recommended solicitors, Bailey Nicholson Grayson.
The gentleman who received a warning for using the Y word at the Chelsea game is also in touch with THST.
We will continue to offer assistance, advice and support to both individuals until a conclusion is reached.
Due to the ongoing legal situation, THST is extremely limited in the information that can be shared at this stage, however, we will communicate as much as we are able to our members.
A meeting has been arranged between THST, THFC and Chief Superintendent Johnson for Monday 21st October to discuss the
Met’s change in position, also.
Ticketing:
THST noted, with interest, the initiative introduced by Newcastle United Football Club around £20 Reciprocal Away Tickets. To explain, Newcastle United will charge the away fans of any club £20 for their seats at St James’s Park, providing Newcastle fans are assured of the same £20 deal for their away trip to that club this season.
Several Premier League Trusts have discussed the benefits of this initiative and we agreed to approach our respective Clubs to ask for their thoughts and backing.
THFC confirmed they are aware of the move and, whilst they have announced their own initiatives for away fans this season (subsidised coach travel), this will be reviewed and discussed further at the end of the campaign. THST will ensure this is revisited in May..
THST has clarified the Booking Fee structure with THFC following confusion around the Hull City (COC) game. For home matches, members are charged £1.75 per ticket online and £2.25 via phone within a members window. Non members are charged £3.50 per ticket. However, a member purchasing a ticket outside of a members window is charged at the £3.50 rate, also.
Away match tickets are subject to a £1.50 per ticket charge.
THST is tabling the issue of Booking Fees for our next formal meeting with THFC, where we will address the £3.50 rate for members outside of a members window and the charge per ticket as opposed to per transaction in more detail.
THST was pleased to learn that THFC have opted for the highest away allocation for the forthcoming game at Everton. Following our successful proposal to the Premier League in March that all away tickets should be available on a sale or return basis, THST urges THFC to opt for the maximum allocation for all future away matches throughout the campaign as we are confident our fans will continue to travel the length of the country to support our team in large numbers.
Real Madrid Partnership ePetition:
Following prompts from eSpurs, the creators of the ePetition calling for an end to the Real Madrid partnership with Tottenham Hotspur FC, THST contacted THFC for an update this week. THFC responded that there will be no further comment on this matter.
Members Lounge:
During THST’s recent meeting with THFC Executives, the lack of drinking establishments in N17 on match days was discussed. The concept of a temporary marquee on the site of Valentino’s pub was raised and, last week, THFC applied for planning permission for this structure, which will be a Members Lounge. THST supports this venture and welcomes an alternative venue for members to enjoy
drinks and food pre and post games.
Coach Subsidy for Official Supporters Clubs:
Following discussions with THFC in September, THST is pleased to learn that Official Supporters Clubs will be eligible for subsidy towards coach travel to away games. This is part of the £200K Premier League grant awarded on the back of the Football Without Fans Is Nothing protest in June and the Football Supporters’ Federation 20’s Plenty campaign, ringfenced for ‘away fans’.
THST recommends that all Supporters Clubs contact THFC and request full details on how to claim for this subsidy as soon as is possible.
THST Board Meeting:
THST is holding their Q3 Board Meeting on Thursday 17th October. Arrangements for the forthcoming SGM and the vacant Treasurer’s role will be at the top of the agenda. Full minutes will be posted within 72 hours.
