The Tottenham Hotspur Disabled Supporters Association
The Tottenham Hotspur Disabled Supporters Association (THDSA) was setup approximately 4 years ago to try to be a collective voice in representing the disabled fans of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. The Club has fully recognised the THDSA and we have regular meetings with them and this relationship has blossomed especially over the past two years. During our meetings a wide range of topics are discussed, from individual support issues, to collective issues around the stadium and ticketing. They also help us address issues raised by disabled fans travelling to away games. With the commitment from the Club we have had some success with the issues we have raised such as the barrier in the Park Lane end of the stadium which is erected during potential volatile games i.e. European competitions, West Ham, Arsenal and Chelsea games, which provides an increased level of safety and security to vulnerable disabled fans in that end and this season a gate has been installed to prevent away fans from entering the disabled area. The Club has also recognised us and our work with the introduction of Supporters Clubs Player and Goal of the season award, which results in a lucky member visiting the training ground to attend the awards ceremony. We are also in the process of arranging a meeting with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to explore ways in which we can work closer together, with the possibility of mentoring, sporting and social events.
The THDSA are aware some disabled supporters may not want to become involved or join, but we are still available to take issues for any disabled supporter to the Club on their behalf. In the meantime we are still looking to increase our membership across all disabilities, and try to get disabled Tottenham supporters to connect with one another. If you are interested we can be contacted by via email: tottenhamhotspurDSA@gmail.com or check us out on our Facebook page: Tottenham Hotspur Disabled Supporters Association
